Maybe it’s the extra romance that comes with cosy open log fires, the Christmas colours of red holly berries, the crisp low sunlight and the early dark nights.

Chris and Louise’s wedding at Bartle Hall in Preston this weekend had all of those things. It’s a beautiful¬† country hotel venue with open fires, a grand staircase and photogenic grounds.

The weather was kind too – winter wedding photography can be, erm… challenging at times, but on this occasion it wasn’t too cold to photograph portraits and traditional groups outside in the hotel’s grounds as well as using the portable studio lighting for indoor portraits too.

All in all a fantastic day from start to finish, and a fantastic way to round off 2012’s weddings – here’s to many more happy couples through the next twelve months.

This weekend has seen us heading north through some majestic highland scenery, to reach Loch Goil and the exclusive waterside hotel The Lodge. There aren’t too many venues that boast their own tree-house, but that’s one of the many touches that attracted Naomi and Fiona to travel there for their Civil Partnership. Continue reading
