Wednesday and Thursday night have found me working with the Katy Holmes Trust, supporting one of their charity fundraising campaigns. I’ve been photographing singers, bands, musicians and dancers who all have two things in common – they’re from Preston and they’ve got talent!!!
Preston’s Got Talent is the name of the charity competition event which the Katy Holmes Trust are running, both to raise the profile of paediatric brain tumours and to fund further research.
Following two heats this week and one more heat in October, the best 15 acts chosen by the Judges will take part in the Grand Final on Friday 25th October. It takes place at Preston Playhouse and the best bit – the winner will get to perform at the Preston Christmas Lights Switch-On, alongside an incredibly talented international singing star. (To book your tickets for the final please ring 01772 490718 or email email@example.com with your phone number and ticket request.)
I’m delighted I’m able to support the event. In addition to photographing all of the acts as they perform, I’m also able to supply prints and enlargements of their images with sales proceeds going back to the Katy Holmes Trust. Have a browse through the Heat 1 and Heat 2 images – hope you like them!!!
Well, much as I’ve enjoyed having a couple of weeks relaxation away from photographing, editing and all that goes along with it, I’m looking forward to getting ‘back to it’.
I’m particularly looking forwards to this weekend’s Christening photography. The weather forecast looks promising for a bit of Winter sunlight giving beautiful natural light and the fact it’s local is an added bonus.
The next few weeks are quite exciting too, with a combination of event photography for charity dinners, a corporate awards day and not forgetting an exciting workshop day at the fantastic Victoria Baths. Bring it on!
SPACE AID was the live music extravaganza which took place on Thursday 3rd January in Preston. Stuart Homer Photography was delighted to be able to support the full event and assist in raising much needed funds for the SPACE Multisensory Centre in Preston.
The SPACE Centre on Pedders Lane Preston provides a valuable facility used widely by young people and adults with disabilities and special needs. Vital funds are needed to allow modernisation work to be completed and secure the future of the centre.
Cue Steve and Lesley Miller who dreamed up SPACE AID and brought the event to fruition with the generous support of many friends, supporters and professionals. The event brought two separate live music gigs to the Preston Grasshoppers venue, along with an auction and raffle.
The afternoon saw performances including Panache, Blackheart, magician Jez Mansfield and top of the bill the fantastic Houghton Weavers. The evening event included live sets from Steves’s band Full Signal, Two Men Standing, an amazing as always set from SPACE patron Stephen Bayliss and then a great set to round off the night by very good friends The ROCKiTS.
Through the day I was able to photograph and sell green-screen portraits as well as photographing all the acts. Proceeds from sales, including any future sales are going to support the fundraising effort.
Photographs from the day can be found in my photo gallery – please have a browse and don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like to purchase any images or would like any information on my range of products and services.
SPACE AID Preston is a live music event taking place on Thursday 3rd January at Preston Grasshoppers RFL Club in Preston. The event is taking place to raise vital funds, needed for SPACE – the Multisensory Centre in Preston.
SPACE fulfils a unique role in helping adults and children with many disabilities and their carers. Funding is needed not only to complete improvements to the centre, but more fundamentally to allow the centre to stay open.
Stuart Homer Photography Ltd. is proud to support the event. We’ll have our studio on site for some fun portraits and will then print your photographs whilst you wait. If you ask them nicely, we’re sure the artists themselves won’t refuse a photograph with you. We’ll also be photographing their sets and will have those photographs to take home too as a reminder of the event.
Artists include the world famous Houghton Weavers, resident Cavern Band and friends The ROCKiTS, another good friend Stephen Bayliss and also Panache, Full Signal and more.
The afternoon starts at 2:00pm and continues into the evening at 7:30pm. Tickets are available for either or both parts of the event from Preston Marina on 01772 733595.
We’re really looking forward to supporting the event and can’t wait to see you there…
