I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends….

SGH_BW15-281August Bank Holiday can only mean one thing – International Beatleweek.

This is the fourth year I’ve had the pleasure of working with Cavern City Tours in photographing at International Beatleweek, in Liverpool. I find it an amazing blast, not just to work in such an incredible city, but to work in some amazing venues and to meet even more amazing people.

This year as well as catching up with lots of BW friends, I spent some time working closely with Japanese all-girl Beatle tribute band The Clover, photographing three of their gigs for them.

In addition to that, the rest of my five days in Liverpool were spent photographing The Royal Court stage shows, including the fantastic Cavern Club Beatles and an all star show led by Mark Hudson and of course working with Cavern resident band The Rockits.

Huge thanks to all involved in organising the event, particularly Jon, Bill, Dave, Phil, Julia, Kim, Paul, Victoria & Shanna at Cavern City Tours for their support and facilitation, thanks to The Rockits & WAGS for their hospitality too – and thanks to everyone else for being great subject matter!

Photographs of the event are on my website, organised by day. Hope you like them – Please get in touch to order copies.

If you would like to know more about me photographing live music or any other event, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Road Tripping USA Style

Last Christmas my Wife bought me a T-Shirt that says ‘If I can’t take my camera, I’m not going!’ and she’s pretty much spot on. Especially when it’s the road trip of a lifetime…

Memorial Day weekend marks the annual Abbey Road on the River music festival, hosted in Louisville Kentucky and this year (after a couple of years of jealously seeing other people’s photographs) we made the trip out there.

You can find my pictures from the trip in three galleries: Louisville, Nashville & Memphis

SPACE AID: The Live Music Event That Rocked

SPACE AIStephen Bayliss patron of the SPACE Multisensory Centre Preston, supporting the SPACE AID Live Music Event on Thursday 3rd Jan 2013. Photographed by Stuart Homer Photography Ltd.D was the live music extravaganza which took place on Thursday 3rd January in Preston.  Stuart Homer Photography was delighted to be able to support the full event and assist in raising much needed funds for the SPACE Multisensory Centre in Preston.

The SPACE Centre on Pedders Lane Preston provides a valuable facility used widely by young people and adults with disabilities and special needs. Vital funds are needed to allow modernisation work to be completed and secure the future of the centre.

Cue Steve and Lesley Miller who dreamed up SPACE AID and brought the event to fruition with the generous support of many friends, supporters and professionals.  The event brought two separate live music gigs to the Preston Grasshoppers venue, along with an auction and raffle.

The afternoon saw performances including Panache, Blackheart, magician Jez Mansfield and top of the bill the fantastic Houghton Weavers. The evening event included live sets from Steves’s band Full Signal, Two Men Standing, an amazing as always set from SPACE patron Stephen Bayliss and then a great set to round off the night by very good friends The ROCKiTS.

Through the day I was able to photograph and sell green-screen portraits as well as photographing all the acts. Proceeds from sales, including any future sales are going to support the fundraising effort.

Photographs from the day can be found in my photo gallery – please have a browse and don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like to purchase any images or would like any information on my range of products and services.

SPACE AID for Preston

SPACE AID Preston is a live music event taking place on Thursday 3rd January at Preston Grasshoppers RFL Club in Preston. The event is taking place to raise vital funds, needed for SPACE – the Multisensory Centre in Preston.

SPACE AID Preston live music event in aid of SPACE PrestonSPACE fulfils a unique role in helping adults and children with many disabilities and their carers. Funding is needed not only to complete improvements to the centre, but more fundamentally to allow the centre to stay open.

Stuart Homer Photography Ltd. is proud to support the event. We’ll have our studio on site for some fun portraits and will then print your photographs whilst you wait. If you ask them nicely, we’re sure the artists themselves won’t refuse a photograph with you. We’ll also be photographing their sets and will have those photographs to take home too as a reminder of the event.

Artists include the world famous Houghton Weavers, resident Cavern Band and friends The ROCKiTS, another good friend Stephen Bayliss and also Panache, Full Signal and more.

The afternoon starts at 2:00pm and continues into the evening at 7:30pm. Tickets are available for either or both parts of the event from Preston Marina on 01772 733595.

We’re really looking forward to supporting the event and can’t wait to see you there…

Another Full Weekend

What a great and varied weekend, with a beautiful wedding, police horses and live music!

Friday night gave the chance for a bit of work on a personal project of mine. Facebook fans may have seen the pictures of my newest and oldest camera – a Bronica S2 medium format film camera, which dates back to 1968 (a very good year in my opinion). Friday night gave the perfect chance to photograph my favorite 60’s tribute band The Rockits in that classic 1960’s venue, The Cavern Club, using a 1960’s camera – in black and white of course.

Saturday saw bright sunshine and scorching temperatures to share an amazing wedding day with Tracie & Sean as they tied the knot at Ribby Hall in Kirkham. Despite flood Continue reading

Dipping a toe in the water…

Maybe metaphorically, although the North Wales Coast is as good a place as any to take a bucket and spade to the beach.

Stuart Homer Photography Ltd. is off to the beach, or The Beaches Hotel at least in a couple of weeks for the Daytripper Weekender event, a Beatles convention organised by our friend Glenn Mitchell. We’re going to be, for the first time, offering green-screen portraits on site – dipping a toe in the water as it were.

Daytripper WeekenderGuests will be able to pose for their photographs in front of our green-screen, before some really clever software does it’s stuff and transports them into a virtual reality – maybe The Cavern Club itself where the beatles made their name, maybe alongside the Fab Four on that famous Abbey Road zebra crossing, or on a magazine cover. Click the image to get a quick taster

In addition, I’m also going to be photographing all the live music of the weekend including The Cavernites, The Mersey Beatles, The Beatelles, The Rockits and more. The perfect chance for the bands to extend their image portfolio with some of my live music photographs at a very special rate.

Check out Glenn’s site www.daytripperweekender.com for all the info, and maybe see you there. It’s going to be a Fab weekend!
